Romance Movie Marathon
While Josh was gone to Arizona for a few days last week, I rented movies from all over the place that I knew he probably wouldn't have any interest in watching. Between Hastings, Netflix and the library, I had a bunch. Most of them were terrible, but there were a few shining ones.
Bride Wars - It was okay. Cute. I like Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. 3.5 / 5
Becoming Jane - Anne Hathaway plays the role of Jane Austen in a biography of her young adult life. More a drama than a romance. I didn't think it was stellar, but it was interesting. 3.5 / 5
The Girl Next Door - Okay, I have to explain WHY I picked up this movie, since it's about a teenage kid who falls in love with a porn star who moves in next door. It was from the library and the movies are behind a locked glass case; you have to choose what you want and then they get it out for you, so I couldn't read the back. I only remembered hearing the name, so I gave it a try. It was obviously pretty raunchy - not something I'd ever keep in my house - but I have to admit that it had unexpected and believably poignant moments throughout. Still, it was pretty bad. 2.5 / 5
Anything Else - Jason Biggs is in love with a high maintenance and eccentric Manhattan socialite played by Christina Ricci. I think Christina Ricci is very creepy looking anyway, and the whole thing was kind of weird. 2.5/5
Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber - Jenneifer Love Hewitt is exactly that - a sociopathic New York social climber who lies, claws and sleeps her way to the top. Jennifer Love Hewitt is cute, but that's the movie's only redeeming quality. 2.5/5
Fool's Gold - The only one of the bunch I would really want to watch again. I know it got bad reviews, but I thought Kate Hudson was beautiful and Matthew McConaughey was quirky and fun. Overall, a good romantic flick. 4/5

Wow, I'd feel totally ripped off if I had watched all of those movies and didn't have at least ONE 5/5 in the bunch!
Maybe my expectations are too high... maybe I'm normally too easy to please.
My daughter loved Becoming Jane, but then again, she loves Jane Austen! Fool's Gold was a favorite of mine just because I got to watch two of the most beautiful people in showbiz for an entire movie....in my humble opinion!
However, I'm not the usual chick movie girl. Give me football, fast cars or motorcycles!! lol
I love your movie reviews....totally awesome!!!! I have only seen one or two of those, so based on your reviews, I will probably only every see Bride Wars (after the wedding of course) and maybe Becoming Jane....just because I love Jane Austen.....way to make the most of your weekend:) There are some RomComs (as my friend Dorothy coined them) that I just love, and a whole lot more that really aren't worth anyone's time:)
Hope you're well!!!!I think that after watching all those bad movies Fools Gold only seemed good (although I like Becoming Jane)
Hahah!
